Gerhard Guter‘s Salsa treatment of “The New Year’s Eve Song” is a great alternative to the usual down-tempo approach. An exciting Calypso breakdown section provides room for optional saxophone soloist. Any changes in clave have been noted, all piano montunos and bass tumbaos are notated to ensure an authentic feel, and chord symbols are indicated for more advanced players who already have a concept of playing salsa and wish to spread out.
