Carol Jacobe

Carol Jacobe is a graduate of Syracuse University and has been a music educator for 48 years. In 2004 Ms. Jacobe became the director of the Jazzuits at Le Moyne College, where she is currently a Professor of Vocal Studies.

Beginning her career in Liverpool, NY where she taught general music and chorus at the middle school level, Ms. Jacobe moved on to become the choral director at Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY. In Baldwinsville, Ms. Jacobe started a jazz-rock vocal group that evolved into a vocal jazz ensemble, Silk & Satin. The ensemble performed for numerous conferences for ACDA, IAJE and NYSSMA. In 2015, she was honored as the first female and as the first vocal jazz educator to receive the CNY Jazz Educator of the Year award. Ms. Jacobe has held the position of chairperson for the NYSSMA All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble for numerous terms, and she is active in ACDA and NYSSMA acting as an adjudicator, clinician, and chairing vocal jazz festivals. She has also served as the New York State Chairperson for the American Choral Director’s Association  (ACDA) repertoire & standards for vocal jazz.
