Gerhard Guter is a composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, producer, vocalist, and educator who has taught nearly forty different college-level courses. A certified Avid Pro Tools Operator and the producer of Vocalogy “Refilled,” he has written and produced music for The History Channel, World of Warcraft, and Celebrity Cruises. Gerhard served as audio editor, mixer, and mastering engineer for California State University Long Beach’s Pacific Standard Time and Vocal Jazz Collective virtual concerts, and co-producer of PST’s studio album “Have You Heard.”
As Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies and Music Business at Elmhurst College, he co-authored Elmhurst’s music production minor and created its Pitch Perfect first-year seminar. As Director of Jazz and Contemporary Performance at Utah Valley University, Gerhard directed the jazz orchestra and traditional jazz ensemble, producing the Ice Breaker Jazz Festival, monthly concerts, and teaching courses and private lessons in jazz arranging, contemporary music theory, and music production. A graduate of the University of Miami, CSU Long Beach, and the University of Arizona, Gerhard joined the faculty at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach as Assistant Professor of Music (composition) in Fall 2024. He is director of CSULB’s vocal jazz ensemble Corner Pocket.
