Pete McGuinness has been a long-time presence on the New York City Jazz scene for several decades. He is a GRAMMY-nominate jazz arranger for work with his own big band The Pete McGuinness Jazz Orchestra, was a long-time NYC-based jazz trombonist and singer, a past semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocal Competition, was 1st prize winner of the NYC Jazzmobile Jazz Vocal Contest, and has been frequently listed on the both the Downbeat Magazine Critics’ and Readers’ poll.
Pete is now a member of the acclaimed jazz vocal quartet The Royal Bopsters, which has released two CDs on the Motema Record label. The group has performed nationally and internationally, including performances at such renowned venues as NYC’s Birdland, Ronnie Scott’s in London, and as headliners at The Newport Jazz Festival. Pete is currently an Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, USA.
