Chicago-based vocalist and composer Alyssa Allgood has contributed this wonderful tune to the Anchor catalog, arranged for SATB choir and rhythm section in a jazz waltz setting. The lyric speaks about a flower finding her way, with a journey of growth leading to “Where you are planted does not define you, for your roots spread much further and carry your truth.”

This is a great chart to feature an expressive alto singer, and the overall vocal range for the parts is not too wide. This tune is very singable, and much of the harmony is two or three part, building to four part in the bigger sections. You’ll want to program this chart!

SATB Range: Sop up to C#5, alto down to G3. Tenor up to G4, bass down to D3.
